Be A "Virtual Lobster Fisherman"
Watch and learn about Lobstering off the coast of Maine
from an 8th generation fisherman whose
ancestors settled on Swan’s Island in 1806.
When James Joyce settled on Swan’s Island in 1806, he began a legacy
that continues to this day. Now, over 200 years later, a direct descendant
of his is available to educate you and your customers about the Sustainability of Maine Wild Caught lobsters. Located in a
conservation area in beautiful Downeast Maine, just 7 miles off the the
shore of Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park, lies Swan's
Island. Here in the crystal clear waters of the North Atlantic is where
your virtual lobsterman's education begins.
Captain Joyce will demonstrate through actual video taken aboard his lobsterboat, how Maine's conservation-minded, sustainable fishing practices work. As a subscriber to Maine Wild Caught, you will be boarding Captain Joyces lobster boat to watch traps being tended in the Swan's Island Conservation Area. You can also receive
fishing updates, weather reports, and a buoy, along with a chart of the Swan's Island Conservation Area. It is up to you, and what will work for you. We are here to help you tell your customers about the Sustainable Maine Lobster Fishery, and why its a smart choice for the consumer.
If conservation is what you are really interested in, we also have the Swan's
Island Conservation Rent-A-Trap option - click
here for more information.
Fishing knowledge has been passed down from father to son here for over
8 generations and you now have the opportunity to learn what it really
takes to catch Maine lobsters.
Learn via weekly/or monthly updates about the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of lobstering
off the coast of downeast Maine where the waters run cold and deep and
the fishing is more than just an income; it’s been a way of life
for the Joyce family on Swan’s Island for over 200 years. Click
